Courageous Bethany Snell had her brunette locks chopped off at the Serenity Hair Salon on Outram Street last week to raise money for the Little Princess Trust. The charity uses real hair to make wigs for children and young people up to 24 years of age who have lost their own hair because of cancer treatments and other conditions. And despite her own health problems, Bethany – who also has epilepsy, a curvature of the spine and mainly uses a wheelchair – wanted to do something to help others battling serious illnesses. The 20-year-old, a student at Eckington’s Landmarks Specialist College in north Derbyshire, has been helped with her fundraising effort by brothers Jamie and Harry, mum Donna and dad Andy. They had called on Chad readers to get behind Bethany’s efforts back last month and so far she has raised around £300 – but there is more more to collect and donations can still be made. Proud mum Donna said: “Bethany thinks she looks beautiful and loves her new hair do. She is over the moon with it. She even decided she wanted to have it dyed purple. "Claire (Reason) has done a fantastic job and Bethany is already looking at other colours for when she next goes back for a trim.” - To make a donation or to sponsor Bethany, email donnasnell89@yahoo.com.
